After a long absence, the MtG universe was returning to Dominaria to deal with one of the biggest hanging threads leftover from the 'Invasion' block. At the outset of the war, Teferi had phased the nation of Zhalfir and a large portion of Shiv out of existence to spare them the horrors of the war and keep resources out of Phyrexian hands. With those territories were thousands of people.

Shiv is due to come back but due to erosion, etc. work has to be done to ensure the land phases in without catastrophe. Mana has also been draining out of Dominaria through massive rifts over Skyshroud Forest/Keld, Urborg, the phased lands and other areas of disturbance during the war. Terferi and Johira enlist the help of Radha and Venser.

There's a whole lot of mucking about, some glimpses into the past (McGough must have been forced to at least skim the previous novels this time so he didn't screw up like he did with the Legends II trilogy). All in all, not a bad return, but the old magic (haha!) is gone.
