From the few Tremblay works I’ve read so far, one thing is clear: this evil, evil man loves nothing more than to write the most intimate, dreamlike depictions of loss imaginable. Survivor Song’s characters feel so real you could touch them, making it all the more easy to cry and hope against hope for them. Pair that with some of the most visceral gore I’ve ever read? I will never be the same.

this was basically a parody of the covid-19 pandemic. very good commentary on how people act when they are exposed to a situation like this.

Hooked into this after reading the beginning excerpt in A Cabin at the End of the World. It was a fun take on the zombie tale, trying to lean more into the realism version while still holding onto the horror, which was well balanced.

I really liked this book. It’s a bit like every zombie film out there, but there’s hope in this one which I like. I genuinely cared for all the characters, and I cried a lot.

It’s not the most mind blowing but I liked it enough to cry when sad things happened, which doesn’t happen with badly written books.

Sassafras and lullabies.
