This was a solid read but definitely not as good as the first book. I liked the “good guy” characters overall better in this book, and I especially loved Sara Harding!! The plot line of the Biosyn “bad guys” coming to the island was also interesting and had a satisfying ending. I didn’t like how philosophical/lectury this book was; it was even worse than the last book, with less direction/purpose in the musings.l for the overall plot. The sense of dread/foreboding was not there either for much of the book, though there were some thrilling moments. The mysteries behind the dinosaurs on this other island were all linked together but the answers to the behavioral questions presented were not very satisfying because they were superficial. This felt like it was written to please the screenwriters and not because Crichton felt inspired.
Graphic: Cursing, Death, Gore, Violence, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Bullying
Minor: Sexism

Not as good as the first book, The Lost World follows Ian Malcom going to another dinosaur island. It’s not as interesting, but still a good thrillers that keeps the reader on the edge of his or her seat. I liked the child characters and felt their ages were better suited than Lex’s. However, the fact that only three BioSyn guys show up…I think the movie made the right choice in having it be this entire team that does meet and conflict with Malcolm’s. It adds man vs man in with this man vs nature thriller. Plus, the raptor field scene is way better in the movie than just one guy running for a tree.

Minor: Bullying and Racism
The child character Kelly does not want to stay home with her mother’s boyfriend without the presence or her older sister. The implication could be that he might abuse her in some way.
