Assassin couple who’s at odds with each other as allegedly their children unalived cuz of the job and heroine blamed for her for it. Tho by the end we know the children have had been fine all this time.

I found it okay and mehh not really good. This would have been a good book only if it wasn’t a novella, the writing style wasn’t best, had hero’ pov. Ending was rushed with no epilogue.

Atonement is a reparation for a wrong as Declan tries to atone for his wife Magnolia. There are a lot of twists and turns before everything is unveiled.

What did I like? The sexual tension between Declan and Magnolia is sadist. Something happened seven years ago to make them separate but sex obviously wasn’t the issue. Declan shows his weakness for her and Magnolia can certainly dish the hate out.

Would I recommend or buy? The book takes a little getting into with the elephant in the room feel. It’s a quick read but tied up pretty nicely. Four stars!

Atonement is a fast-paced, smart, sexy novella that follows an estranged married couple (and also freelance intelligent agents) as they are put together for an assignment after not seeing one another since their lives were torn apart several years prior when a mission went wrong.

I love a good novella. I love how authors are forced to pick and choose very carefully what they are going to sacrifice and what they are going to keep in the name of their writing muses in order to create, maintain, and finally put out a short and impactful story. The best novellas and short stories can tell us, in around 100 pages, just as much of (and as powerful of) a story as a full-length novel. Some of my favorite stories of all-time are novellas and short stories.

Atonement is entertaining enough, but I wouldn’t say it completely accomplishes what it set out to achieve. While there is a good amount of tension that suits any suspense novella, and the pace is suitably fast for the length, I think the frequent pauses left for emotional gravity between the estranged married couple that are our main characters lets up on the gas a little too much. If you add in the emotional angst and the light BDSM they engage in, it ends up letting up on the gas just that much more when it comes to the primary plot, leaving too much space for uneven pacing. To me, it ruined the natural ebb and flow a good suspense thriller like this should have. Instead, there were fits and starts that were out of place, and it showed.

Where this novella was at its best was in the fast-paced action scenes, the bitter and angry banter between the main characters, the steamy tension and build-up between them, and when they were working in tandem despite their differences.

While not an amazing short story, Atonement is certainly an entertaining one and worth the read.

While this was a very hot and intriguing book, I did struggle a little. The beginning hooked me right in, but the middle took a little bit of a dip and lost my interest here or there. However the end really reeled me back in. I enjoyed this steamy romantic suspense quite a lot, certainly enough to check out more by the author.

This is my first book by Evelyn and I really enjoyed it .I loved the bickering between Ace and Mags but I hadn’t guessed how they were connected . The twists an turns had me wanting to carry on reading and I was slightly shocked to finally find out what they were to each other .

This is my first Evelyn Motgomery read so I was unsure what to expect. Unfortunately, her writing style may not be the best fit for me. While this story is labeled as fast paced, I found it to be the opposite. The first few chapters were dragging for me and while yes, the number of secrets give you whiplash from all the guess and back and forth, it also confused me. I had to re-read several paragraphs as I kept getting lost.

Once I had a firm grasp, everything fell into place but so did the obvious answers to the secrets minus a few BIG reveals. Also the warp speed kicked into overdrive which was exciting.

The spice scenes were phenomenal and well written. This is both an enemies to loves and second chance love. Once the characters stopped fighting and communicated, I was very happy. I wish that the female character's POV had been provided, if only for one chapter and/or an epilogue.

I really enjoyed this novella. This was my first book by Evelyn Montgomery and I think I made a great choice by choosing this book. This book was full of suspense that kept me wanting more on each page.  I had many questions going through my head about Declan and Magnolia the entire time.
Declan and Magnolia both work for the FBI but, they are also married to each other.  They lost both of their kids which tore the two of them apart and they went on to live their lives separately but still married. I loved how in the end their entire family was put back together and they got their kids back after years of being without them. I really wish that we would have had an Epilogue to see how their family was doing after they were put back together.

I received an ARC of this book and this review is my own and honest opinion.

This book is unique. The whole book is told from Declan’s POV. This book turns pretty steamy! I didn’t know if I would like this being told from just the male POV but I really enjoyed this book.
