Notwithstanding the cover art for this book, this is not a romantic suspense, it's a straight up contemporary. I loved both Rachel and Ben - they're equally great characters - each dealing with their past and emotions in different ways. At the end of the day, it's Ben who grows and changes more as a character; Rachel is already where she needs to be - she knows who she is.

I loved how strong a character Rachel was - and I loved the back-story how she left a cult-like religious environment and is exploring this new world and her boundaries. Ben was a little bit brusque, but one of those romance heroes with depth.

A highly recommended contemporary!

4.5 STARS, I Loved this heroine!...She could have been whiney, naïve, and clingy...but she was so just the opposite...which was great!...I found her strong and confident...she knew what she wanted and didn't apologize for her curiosity...LOVED!

I was captivated by the writing in Uncommon Passion and I am SO into the heroine. I was initially worried about the ingénue/tutor dynamic, but my doubts were quickly put to rest by the finesse with which this story was woven. Rachel had an assured sense of self that was so endearing. And, ultimately, her innate mettle and wisdom served to school the world-weary Ben, who thought he had it all figured out. I totally see myself re-reading this book one day!
