I really liked this. Only wish it would've been a bit longer!
This story was quite refreshing in my opinion. Very short, but I enjoyed it. The writing was class and it really drew me in. I think it could've benefited from an additional point of view, like Todd's.
Unlike other reviewers, I am completely content with this stories ending. It is an open ending, but it let's you know juuust enough to guess what has happened/is happening.
I might even take my earlier statement of "I wish it was longer" back.

I also found it a nit frustrating that the MC wouldn't respond to Urban, but that's just a personal little pet peeve. This story was quite refreshing in my opinion. Very short, but I enjoyed it. Todd's comment of "it's almost... ready..." was so intriguing to me! I wish we would have seen how other's perceived this mystery. Whether the Wesley and the tree had a unique connection or whether the tree 'spoke' to others too. And how did Urban find out it is dangerous? I'm guessing it wasn't a singular tree, but multiple that popped up all over. Fascinating! Would things have taken a different course if Jay hadn't lit the fire?Unlike other reviewers, I am completely content with this stories ending. Thinking about it now, I think any more and it wouldn't have had that frantic, caffeine-fueled frenzy to it. Towards the end you can feel the climax approaching and the caffeine/sludge racing through your veins.phronk's review

I wrote this, so maybe I'm a bit biased. I think it's pretty good though. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. Good job, me.

While most of this book was interesting and intriguing, the up-in-the-air ending didn't work for me, a reaction I guess I share with a lot of people, and I should say that I'm not one of those people who always needs everything resolved at the end of a book, though I generally prefer it. In this case it felt more as if the author didn't know how to resolve it and just threw his hands up in the air and wrote what we have.
