I've loved reading Evangeline & Jacks' story - it's been such an easy read & a beautiful fantastical world. The descriptions of the buildings & surroundings sound amazing and make you want to teleport inside the book!
Don't get me wrong, it's the longest build-up to kiss EVER (mostly because it would kill likely Evangeline if it happened), so I did get a wee bit scunnered, but overall I really enjoyed this series.
I was always rooting for Little Fox & Jacks

3.5 stars ⭐️ I liked this series as a whole. It was very YA fairytale and enjoyable, and I enjoyed getting a fresh view of the world from Caraval (which I loved). However, this wasn’t my favorite of the series and it seemed elementary (especially after finishing Iron Flame). I love Stephanie’s writing, but this just felt particularly low stakes and easy. Questions weren’t really answered and everything seemed Pixar-movie-esque. But it was still enjoyable!

My most anticipated read of this year. We finally get the conclusion to the series Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. How far will you go to get your happily ever after. The last book Ballad of Never After ended with Evangeline Fox losing her memories just when she was about to confess her love to Jacks. Now Apollo wants to keep her but Eva knows that she is supposed to tell something and being with Apollo feels wrong.
“ I am a monster, but whether you remember it or not, I’m your monster, Evangeline”
We have finally reached to a point where both of them are admitting their feelings towards each other ❤️ I hated the POV of Apollo and honestly skimmed through it. We get to know the backstory of the Valor Family which was really interesting and I hate Aurora with burning passion. Oh… when they finally kiss at the end

I really did love these characters but the book feels unfinished. I wish we had more background into Dane and Lala's story or even the romantic tension with her and Castor. I also didn't like how major characters were either not mentioned or just barely mattered in this book. Finally while I did understand the apples hint I am still confused as to whether she still has the final debt broken heart scar on her wrist or not? Or did it disappear as he was the last kiss? I know some theories are that it stayed and connects then but even then I wish we had a scene where the scar transformed into a full heart or something signifying it without having to straight up say it. I still liked this book for Jack's and Eva but there was barely any of them together the story was almost too fluff without any of the adventure that pulled me in with the first books.
EDIT
after reading the 3 special editions different epilogues I'm so upset they weren't in the original. It answers one of the questions I had above and just overall felt more complete even with all of the other loose ends

A little disappointed after the second book. The situation in the first half of the book was really frustrating considering all the growth and events in the second book. The ending was okay.
