I enjoyed the beginning of this book a lot! The characters were fascinating, as was the world building. The ending I think left something to be desired, but I am excited to read the rest of the series. Definitely worth a read.

Not only does this book have great world building, but the plot is also quite engaging! The mysteries that were picked up in the second half we're solved in a satisfyingly way and really made me enjoy reading this.

The story has 2 main characters, and the story switched POV after every chapter between them.

The main boy character has my favorite main character personality type, and the story handled him well.

while the female character actually has one of my least favorite character personalities, she is well written for her arcitype which made her grow on me. She is a classic 'spunky female lead who always wants to be #1 and has lots of pride,' but she meshes well with the world and with the other characters.

this book ends in a way that I didn't know that there were more books in the series, which makes me extremely excited for the next book, as only the ebst of writers can have the confidence to not end their books on cliff hangers and knows that if they wrote a good book, people will want to read more.
