Overall, I really enjoyed this read- as expected from Josephine Angelini. She's QUEEN. I really connected with all of the characters in the novel and the emotions and relationships that formed felt so incredibly real to me. (Rowan x Lily FTW!!!)
My only issue was the excessive world-building. I am not really a fan of drawn out descriptions of every single detail so those aspects of the novel struck a nerve with me and caused me to skim over those parts. I also wished they had explored certain aspects of the world more rather than just focusing on the three mechanics' and Lily's journey- like citizen life & the politics in Salem. It's hard to explain but I wished she spent less time explaining certain things and more on other things. (So descriptive, huh?)
In the end, it's all about how a book touches you & your perception of reality after you finish reading & I have to say that it left such an incredible impression on me and I COULDN'T HELP SHIPPING LILY AND ROWAN!!! I am too invested in their relationship now! (Tristan has always been friend material- let's not make this a love triangle please)

It took all of my willpower to make it through the second to last CD of the audiobook and then I just couldn't do it any longer. We finally got an inkling of Lillian's actual motivations and I STILL didn't care enough to finish it, let alone start the next one.

I was surprised by this book. I liked the concept A LOT. And Lily is amazing. Its such an interesting twist on magic and parallell infinite universes. Its mindblowing. I just didnt like that the chapters were so looong. But the story is very mezmerising and I find myself thinking bout that world a lot.

I really enjoyed the plot line of this book, until the end. Things became vague and rushed and it was hard to keep track of how long things were taking. It seems like Angelini had a certain number of pages she needed, and wasn't willing to go over that. I think this book would have been better if it had more pages.

I'm so glad I got a chance to read this book. I love anything that hints on witches, and this book was a great mix of magic and science. So excited for the next book. This was my first book by Josephine, but I will defiantly be reading her other series.

I really enjoyed that this book had a different outlook on multiple universes and the theory that witchcraft and science are a bit similar. It was a good read and look forward to continue the series.
