Oh god that was horrible. Thank goodness I got it as a free download. I never want to waste my time on a book like that ever again.

Good

It was good. Not really really steamy, but good! I enjoyed reading it and the slow build of a relationship between the two characters.

Unusual and interesting

I've long been made weak by what is called "competence porn" - stories about talented, capable people. Here, the brilliantly talented are musicians; the exploration of how a talent like that can change the course of one's childhood.

A significant portion of the story is devoted to the main characters' childhood, and then a period of nearly Shakespearean comic miscommunication and missteps. That section is in many ways about the characters relationship with their talents, but is overshadowed by the tragedies of childhood abuse.

Once the characters get past the strained miscommunication their relationship becomes nearly too easy - the friendship and respect transitions to affection and love. The relationship feels very real, built on more than just a shared talent and sexual attraction.

Overall, excellent story with a satisfying ending. Recommended.

Still loved this as much as the first time around if not more.

To my own surprise I really enjoyed this... they have this amazing queer found family and I'm just *heart eyes*
