I’m pretty torn between four and five stars but rounded up. It was well written though not exceptionally beautiful. I’m not a huge fan of poetry embedded in prose but this worked pretty well here and made sense for the narrative voices. I fell completely in love with the main character, but that felt inevitable and completely unsubtle, she has no flaws and is hugely tragic so not much you can’t fall in love with. The comparisons to Barbara Kingsolver are very fair, the deep love and respect for nature and context came through on every page. Not sure I’d recommend this to everyone, but I couldn’t put it down for the last half.

*4.5 I didn't know anything about this book before reading and I couldn't put it down once I picked it up.

This book was so amazing! I really loved the beautiful language and most of all how she wrote of the marsh and wildlife. The end of the book was also INSANE
