Not her best. She really pushed the sex in this one, which I don’t remember from her others. I also didn’t really like most of the characters and I thought the plot was fairly flat in comparison to a lot of her other works. But I do like how easy her writing is to read! And I liked getting some back story for Miranda.

I don't read nearly as many historical fiction books as I used to but I'm glad I picked this one up. It made me miss the genre even if it wasn't my favorite book. It took me a little while to get into the book and understand how all the characters in the different time jumps related to one another, but once I got my bearings, I was intrigued. The book is well written and I liked the chapters within each chapter. Towards the end, it started to drag for me and I thought the conclusion was a bit of a letdown.

Highly enjoyable book. I loved the structure of the chapters going back and forth in time. And while I figured out what really happened early on, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment. Solid 3.5 stars.

This is a hard one to review. You can read the overall synopsis here on Goodreads. I had a hard time with the supposed love between Miranda and Joseph. I mean I can see it when she was 18... but to carry on adult feelings when they barely knew each other was a little too far fetched. That being said, I loved Isobel. I loved where they lived and the background there. And I enjoyed the overall story.

I really wanted to love this book after reading Her Last Flight. I don’t know if it was the number of characters, the different timelines, the different points of view but I just kept getting distracted while reading it.
