well, i got through it and as much as i eventually began to like the writing style, i expected something more from the end. it was sweet, in a way. kind of incongruent, but it is the first book so it's pretty good series set up-wise. yup.

All the adult characters are insufferable in the best way possible. I don't think there is a main character that I don't like. Even though Sargent Caputo is kind of a jerk to Tandy I love their banter that they have together.

Easy too read, fast to read.

I found it hard to care about the characters, any character.

The mystery was interesting. However, the pay off was so bad, I really disliked the ending. Not at all what I wanted it to be, although I somewhat expected it, kind off.

The thing I liked the most was on the epilogue, the main character came to a conclusion that I predicted somwhere along the book.

This was the first James Patterson book I've ever read. I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters. I loved the way it was written. But, I felt that the ending could've been better. It was a little predictable. Overall, I loved it.

I picked this book up on a whim at the library. I don’t tend to read James Patterson books. I tried once in the past but I couldn’t get into it. Crime novels aren’t really my favorite so I tend to stay away from the whole genre. My mom’s a massive fan of his though and she’s constantly trying to get me into his books. So I figured this one’s here, it’s young adult, why not.
Reading this book was a mistake on my part. If you’re looking to get into James Patterson stay far away from this one. I’m just glad it wasn’t terribly long. I didn’t really expect much out of it given my previous experience with his books. For me personally I’m just not a fan of his writing style. I’d hoped that maybe his YA would be a bit more relatable or something. I was, of course, entirely wrong.

The book follows Tandoori Angel as she tries to figure out who murder her parents. You spend most of this book suspicious of everyone. And I mean, everyone. Tandoori included. Everyone has a motive to kill them and it all looks plausible.

My main issue with this book is that while you’re suspecting everyone Tandy is also telling you other things. She mentions stuff that her parents have done, things she can only vaguely remember but they have to be important and she just HAS to remember them, and other various random things that sound like maybe they’ll play into the story later. Spoiler alert, they don’t.

Almost nothing that’s brought up is extremely relevant to the ending. As a matter of fact I feel like this entire book is just completely pointless. You running in circles trying to figure out who did it and you get nowhere. Tandy keeps the same list of suspects the entire time without eliminating anyone. All she manages to do is uncover some of her parents secrets here and there.
In the end the murder mystery is solved in the most random way and it’s all very disappointing. I’m not sure what convinced James Patterson and Maxine Paetro that this was a fantastic story worthy of publication but whatever it was I hope they’re satisfied with it. I’m just glad I didn’t pay for this book.

"He was already a sociopath, and he was just out of kinder-garten. I didn't think much of it at the time. It was the family way."

I'm trying to read more mystery/thriller books this year, so I decided to pick up my copy Confessions Of A Murder Suspect. I have read various James Patterson books in the past, but this is the first one meant for a YA public. I simply flew through the pages of this book; as always his stories are more than entertaining. James Patterson and Maxine Paetro use an unreliable narrator to tell the story of the mystery around the double murder of the Angel parents, but do so without it becoming annoying. Sure, the Angel family is without doubt a very eccentric family to say the last and their whole situation is on the border of fantastical, but it IS an entertaining read with a surprising ending. (I really didn't see it coming until the very end!) I'm not sure I actually liked the main characters, but I really liked the writing style and prose. The pace is superfast with just the right dose of suspense and plot twists... Definitely recommended if you are looking for a quick, slightly disturbing and entertaining read.

When Malcolm and Maud Angel are found murdered, the only suspects seem to be the persons that were in their house at the time: their four children and their assistant. The mysterious and filthy rich Angel family has a lot of enemies, but there seem to be no signs of a break in... And the police doesn't look for the killer elsewhere. Tandy Angel is determined to find out who killed her parents and decides to do her own detective work. She knows three things: she was the last person to see her parents alive, she and her three brothers are the only suspects the police focus on and she cannot trust even herself. Having grown up in the Angel's house with the always present demand for perfection has left its mark on all children. Both the police and Tandy herself have a hard time finding out what really happened that night and who is guilty of what. The Angel family has a lot of secrets... Will Tandy be able to unravel the secret of her parents' murder before the police will arrest both her and her siblings?

This is not your average detective story and I personally really enjoyed the unreliable narrator/ eccentric family twist both authors have used in Confessions Of A Murder Suspect. The main characters might not be totally likeable, but they fit perfectly with the image of this almost dysfunctional family. The prose is easy to read and the many plot twists and fast pace make you want to continue reading until you reach the end. I read this book in less than 24 hours and I will definitely try to get a copy of the sequel soon to find out what other secrets the Angel family has. Recommended!

This book sucked ass. The only reason I continued to read was to see who actually did it and the answer was so disappointing and underwhelming. I apparently tried to read this three years ago and originally liked it but stopped. I kind of wish I had just left it at that and not tried picking it up again.

ALSO the parents were pretty much emotionally abusing their children, from the snippets we got, which made the eulogy at the end hollow as all get out. I feel like that spoiler doesn't matter so I'm not tagging it.

And I was appalled at police procedure in this book; Caputo should have been fired. I was literally waiting for it to happen. I hated his character and, again, the ending didn't do any favors for me on that end.

I'm not writing a proper review of this right now because I'm kind of angry I wasted my day reading this.
