This book was captivating. I truly felt like I was on the journey west with the MC and the giraffes. I gritted my teeth when they were in danger and breathed a sigh of relief when they overcame each obstacle. Definitely a heartwarming story that's worth a read.

The writing in this book was spectacular. It created a story that one felt like they were apart of. The story itself was slow for me at times which is why it got a 4/5. Overall a good book I would recommend.

Truly marvellous coming of age story, set in the 1930s depression era.  I was not expecting a story of two men travelling west with two giraffes to be so engrossing, so enthralling...  So many near disasters (two flat tires had my heart in my mouth, a sudden downpour was terrifying) and the social inequalities of the day (racial, gender & economic) are repeatedly witnessed or felt by the three main characters (five if you include the two giraffes).
Vibrant and incredibly well written adventurous novel.
Thoroughly recommended.

I had heard good things about this book, but I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. I truly enjoyed everything about this book... the story, the characters, the giraffes 🦒🦒, all sucked me in from the start and held me till the very end. This is definitely a book I'll revisit sometime, and I expect the characters to stay with me for a while.
