Context/clarification for certain content warnings are below:Spoiler
Most of the moderate warnings are self-explanatory. I chose to make Rape, Sexual Violence, and Sexual Assault moderate because one of the main character's ancestors is a slave who was raped, and the main character does witness this, but there is not explicit detail used to describe it. It is left implied, but is discussed again later in the story. For the Minor warnings: There is a brief scene at the very beginning where college students are jumping off a cliff into a body of water for fun. The main character, as I interpreted the scene, seemed to briefly consider joining them and contemplating dying as a result. Another character is able to use magic, and a side effect of using a large amount of magic is that he appears to get drunk/high, so I included drug abuse. And a general violence content warning for the fights in the book.limwora's review

I loved this book. I loved Bree’s growth and how she came into her own through her grief. I love Alice and her strength of friendship. I love Nick and his unending loyalty. I even grew to love some unexpected characters. Bree creates a community for herself, and she does so in a way that feels authentic and caring.
The magic in the book was great. Bree’s experience as a Black girl in a mostly white setting was compelling and eye opening. There was just enough romance that I found it believable, but not so much that it overwhelmed the book. It’s definitely YA, but in a way where complexity isn’t given up in exchange for an easy story. There are twists, and difficult topics are broached well, but they’re done in a way that’s approachable and not too dark.
My only complaint is that the best ok takes place over so little time. I feel like the same story could have been told over months instead of weeks. I will definitely be reading Bloodmarked when it is released. 4.75 stars.
