This wasn't what I expected. It was much harder to read than I expected, very clinical and dry at times. There were some interesting parts, but it didn't really grab me like I thought it would.

This book is going to make the top 5 books, that I have read in 2022.
It changed my perspective towards death.
I highly recommend it.

3.5 stars. This was compared to Mary Roach and Caitlin Doughty - who I really enjoyed the works of. I was, based on that, expecting informative but snarky. This wasn’t what I was expecting, I found it extremely difficult, and it ended up being a slow read for me because I had to take breaks from listening. This was more personal - first few chapters were her relatives dying and her feelings and experiences, which I found so hard after having lost a close family member within the last year. She then goes into her work in the field, which again was hard hitting and not the interesting snark I was hoping for. Add to that our shared rodent phobia and her going into detail about her experiences with rats and I was like

Not in the right headspace. Beautifully written, very interesting but my mental health can't handle that much death.
