Lauren was attacked by The Beast causing her to go into a two year long coma. When she awakens Max is gone and her family and friends have had to move on with their lives. After all, the doctor told them that it was highly unlikely that she would ever wake back up. Now it seems that she has gained a new power and Rewsna is there to help her with her changed destiny. Can she make her way back to the path that she was deviated from by missing that time or is everything changed forever?
There are two sides to every story and in this we see the beginnings of both. I really enjoyed book one and felt it ended on a cliffhanger. Which it did. As such I immediately bought and started reading book 2. It picked up right where book 2 left off and while there are references to book one to serve for reminder purposes I am glad that I did not wait a while before starting book 2 like I normally do when I actually get continuances to a series.
I truly enjoyed this book in that we are able to still see Lauren and Max along with their destinies. There isn't nearly as many obsessions without anything to base it on as there was in book 1. They have a bit of history before going hot and heavy, which I feel is helpful.
They don't seem as argumentative as they were in book 1, but that could just be because he knows everything about her and believes it. Who knows. I don't know who is truly correct in this book. Be it the Council, the Cabinet, or even The Beast. At some points Samuel seems to be an absolute douche and at others he seems to be a just and sane "person". I will let you draw your own conclusions. All in all I feel confident in how this book ended. While there is still more to know, at this time, I do not wish to continue on to book 3. I may, however come back to this series in the future.

I really hope things get better for Lauren and Max's relationship, I've never seen a PNR couple have so much obstacles keeping them apart. I don't even think they spent an entire six months together since meeting approximately three years ago. That being said, I really enjoyed Destiny's Revenge as much as or possibly more than Meeting Destiny. The story was fast paced and there was always something taking place. Lauren and Max faced even greater roadblocks to their ultimate destiny. Can't wait for the next book.

I fell in love with Lauren and Max in Meeting Destiny. Now, I'm more in love with them. Nancy Straight wrote an amazing second book to her Destiny Trilogy that left me wanting more.
Two years have passed. Lauren is just waking up from a coma. Max isn't around and Lauren is heartbroken. Her home is now a retirement center and it's there where she meets an old man who will forever change her Destiny.
Upon waking from a coma, Lauren learns that Max left her. The only explanation she receives is that the doctors never thought she would wake and told him to move on. So, he did the only thing he could... join the military. He thinks everything is his fault and throws himself in harms way to overcome his guilt. Sadly, she has no way of getting a hold of him. However, she is slowly learning how to use the gift she was given when she broke the binds that held her.
So much of this book was spent with Max and Lauren separated, which I liked. We got to know them a little in Meeting Destiny, but not to the extent we do now. With their separation came some negative outcomes, but that is what was foretold. Their separation would only cause bad things to happen and they are better together. In Meeting Destiny, we were introduced to one of many people who influence choices. Now we get to know a few more of those people, but we are never told which side or who specifically "the bad guy" is. Destiny's Revenge provides the reader with multiple perspectives and ideas of who that person is. In the end, I was have issues deciding who was good and who was bad.
Overall, Destiny's Revenge is a well written second addition to the trilogy. If you enjoyed Meeting Destiny, you need to read book two.

I definitely like the second book more than the first as the characters develop and grow. As the story evolves, so does the theme as the author adds new and intriguing complexities to the struggle between good and evil. As such, she requires us to reevaluate which characters are good and which are evil...in fact, we begin to realize that the question of who and what is evil may not even be the most important...or one with an answer.

I'm not giving this one a star rating. I couldn't even get half way. It didn't hold my interest at all. I rated the previous book very highly, but felt that this one was just lacking. Needless to say, I won't be reading the third.
