DBF at 230 pages. I really tried you guys. Not even Taylor Swift could help get me through this book. Unfortunately it is not possible to give a zero star rating. Seriously, save yourself the headache, the time, and the braincells.

Sally Rooney continues to be hit or miss for me, and this was more of a miss. Rooney provides a fascinating, intimate, and real look into the lives and thoughts of her characters. They're plausibly imperfect, and I can sympathize with them even when I can't relate to them. I think I just got tired of their constant self-sabotaging and lack of mature communication. The characters don't really grow or change for the better, and maybe that's supposed to be a reflection of reality, but I was disappointed not to see the characters make more significant progress - if I were to restart the book immediately, I wouldn't be struck by any differences in the characters between the beginning and the end. I can appreciate Rooney's impartial, somewhat apathetic attitude in her writing, and I think it is cleverly done, it's just not something I want to read in general

I really enjoyed this book. Reading this story and falling in love with the challenges created by and for the characters was so easy for me. I truly loved their dynamic and the ease in which Sally Rooney explores their personalities, intentions, and minds. The book felt so effortless, which is precisely why it flowed so well. Loved the story and can’t wait to read more of Sally Rooney’s books.
