when you start with the fantastical but then drop down into reality, it makes a much less enjoyable read.
I think I'd have enjoyed this book more if I read it first, then you read Petter Nimble as a prequel.

Sophie is just so incredibly boring of a character compared to the colorful cast that surrounds her, and she sticks out like a sour thumb because of it.

If this was your first introduction to her world, it works well with giving you a good fish out of water kind of story. The issue is, we are already familiar with this world. We had a whole adventure with Peter Nimble! so it feels like playing catch up.

this book is also more... censored? I'm not sure what's the right word.
Peter Nimble was a classic dark yet light fairytale...This book is not.
Petter Nimble was full of dark humor. This book...feels generic.
You would never hear the likes of drowning kittens in this book! let alone Eyes being pecked out by ravens! the difference in that theme is so jarring to me See

Worst, they wen't really weird with the romance between Sophie and Petter. They are like 12! calm down! It feels like Petter likes her cuz shes the only girl he's ever interacted with thats not his sister.
They have 0 chemistry, and Sophie is kind of anoying. Like, her thoughts are annoying.
She'd be like "Hmm I wounder if things are less scary if you have a blind fold on...maybe that's why he wears a blind fold even though hes not blind!" My goodness can you shut the F up.
Funny enought, she was right to some exent, but not for the reason she was thinking of.

Overal, I wish I didn't pay for this book and that I didn't read it. It was a waste of an audiable credit and of my time.
