An awesome look behind-the-scenes of my favorite show. What really stood out to me is the windy path creators take when putting together a world filled with rich lore, dynamic & complex characters, and stunning visuals.

That is to say, DiMartino & Konietzko don’t suddenly create the story for the legendary Avatar series overnight. Instead, the whole process is piece-meal, starting with one tiny sketch of a bald man and his robotic lemur friend. Then, with a lot of twists and turns and challenges, it slowly becomes one of the best stories ever created.

There were so many gorgeous designs and settings displayed here - really shows how much work and care went into the worldbuilding. I might have to purchase this one.

As the host of a podcast about the show (‘Crossroads of Destiny’

doing research for my Chinese supernatural literature graduate course's final paper and this was not only incredibly helpful for my research but a PLEASURE to read. This is one of my favorite shows of all time and just being able to understand the behind the scenes work that went into something I love so dearly, it was awesome.
