I love these little books. They are quick reads and so entertaining.

While a fun little book of 5 short stories starring Maude, they follow the same pattern in each one. Makes for a quick read, but a tiny bit redundant. They were short stories printed throughout the years, so completely forgivable. A good palate cleanser if you just read a heavy, deep book. 3.5 stars.

I'm all down for a morally decrepit old lady character, but Maud mostly just annoyed me. I think it was because so few of her murders were actually justified. The lawyer who abused his wife, sure, absolutely, kill him. But there were a couple others that she only suspected might have been plotting something against her, and she killed them in cold blood without evidence on only suspicion. And let's not forget the one victim who had no plans to wrong her at all, but Maud just decided she didn't like. I dunno, I just didn't find it cute or funny and I didn't find her very likable. Nothing morally grey here, just straight up black.
