Dark, brutal and funny action adventure exploration of heaven and hell and their mutually dependent self serving natures and modestly put--the shortcomings of humanity. First heard of this from a Barnes & Noble bookseller who liked some unrelated t-shirt I was wearing and thought I might like Preacher. I don't know who sent you, but thank you mysterious stranger.

I went into preacher blind not knowing a single thing about it. and boy oh boy did I love it. it's so messed up, its a breath of fresh air. it made me love adult comics, the story is amazing!!!! I love the art style as well. honestly so glad I picked this up because it is so addictive to read and refreshing for someone like me who's over the whole superhero thing.

Sacrilegious, filled with wildly disturbing images, scummy and horrible characters... What's not to like?

Would've been very good had it not been for so much immature dialogue littered throughout. However for all of Ennis's faults (it was the 90s after all), the book does a great job throwing you into the bizarre and somehow familiar world of the titular Preacher as he embarks on a journey to find the Lord and find out why he abandoned his post.

THIS WAS THE BEST! It's been a while since I found a new world to get lost in and I wasn't disappointed at all. I love that the characters integrated with different twists and turns and I loved the surprises.
Cannot wait until I get my hands on book two of this very dark and gritty graphic novel.

For the most part Preacher is an excellent example of Garth Ennis's best traits. Raw and brutal social satire that lays out the world bare. The only things that hold this back from being a full five stars is that it occasionally gets a bit too far into bad taste (the more shock/offensive variety), still I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

Hot take: I enjoyed the show for the most part and don't get why people can't just separate the show from the source material. (For any adaptation, not just this.) But that's a rant for another day.

Anyway, this was so good and I can't wait to get my hands on the following books! Can't wait to get to Herr Starr.
