This was a clever and unique Sci-Fi/Horror story. It was well-written, had great character development, full of dread and some twists and turns that I did NOT see coming!

While it isn't wholly bad, it isn't good either.  It's boring and about 200 pages too long.  Would have worked better as a novella that didn't drone on and on about uninteresting details.

Also if you read the description of this book and pick it dead set on a dark sci-fi.  It's a bait and switch you find out in chapter 2.  I only read it after that point to finish because I like domestic contemporary thrillers, but this book was the slowest and most unthrilling story.

This book tried to do too much and failed at everything.

I have read and seen a couple of stories about rogue AI, so I thought I knew exactly how this one was going to play out. But Beta surprised me, and the plot had elements I didn't expect, and went to places I didn't expect.
It's difficult to say too much without spoilers, but I enjoyed the multi-layered aspect of the story, and there were plenty of twists and turns to keep me entertained.
Loved the ending too.
