Exquisite. If you're an introvert and/or nerd from the Pacific Northwest, this book is for you! Held the same academic interest as Lab Girl, but with indigenous perspective. I was camping in Acadia for a week midway through the book and was so much more careful with moss.

Who’d have thought I would enjoy a book about moss so, so much?! This isn’t a book for everyone cos it’s very scientific about plant and moss names. So unless you’re super interested in this then it’s not gonna be a relaxing read and feel more textbook with some inspiration woven in.

She does such a good job of combining Western science, indigenous knowledge, and personal experiences! Apparently much of her academic research has focused on mosses, so she shares a lot of information. Sometimes it is too technical, especially when only listening to it. I think the book (or ebook) has drawings too, which would help.
