First of all, I think this is one of the prettiest YA covers out right now! And I think the cover reflects the tone of this breezy summer read. It does deal with some serious issues, but it's all told through a fun road trip.
The main character, Chloe, comes up with a scheme to go audition for her idol's ballet conservatory in Washington DC. She ends up bringing along Eli, her childhood friend-former crush-current enemy (woo tropes!) and his adorable senior pup Geezer. Of course, things go awry and they end up spending much longer than the planned one day trip. (and There's Only One Bed!)

This was such a quick read and I really enjoyed it. Eli and Chloe's dynamic was delightful and I was definitely rooting for them to get together. Their friend Trey was great too, and their stop to see him was my favorite part of the book. (Once fierce, always fierce!)

This focuses more on the road trip and romance than on dancing, but I loved that Chloe was a ballet dancer. It made me want to read more ballet books.
SpoilerI kind of wanted a definite answer about whether or not she got into the company, but I choose to believe she goes on to dance either there or somewhere else!

I found the main character to be kind of annoying and the plot’s pacing was weird. Not the best book.

Good story

This is a cute story that is well written. The characters are interesting and fun. This story is about learning to believe in yourself and going after what makes you happy.

This was such a cute book! I thought the love story was cute being a hate to love. I'm also a sucker for stories about dancers since even if I was on and off with dance classes throughout my life, I absolutely love dancing. And I love how Chloe had to learn to be more confidant on herself and go after her dreams.

3.5* A super cute and fluffy YA friends-to-enemies-to-lovers road trip romance. Kristina’s writing is so enjoyable and this was the epitome of ‘short and sweet’.  I flew through this lovely story in a single sitting and whilst I’d have maybe liked the ending to have been a little more fleshed out, this was a lovely read to spend a monday afternoon with.

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

It took me quite a while to sit down and actually read this one, but once I did I enjoyed it. The writing is done well and I found myself reading pages and pages without realizing time was passing. It was a really quick read.

The unfortunate thing, is that I'm only getting around to reviewing it almost a month later (because life) and I can't remember too much about it or my feelings. So, this will review will be to the point.

It is sweet, romantic, and happy.
There is some good commentary on how our bodies change and potentially our futures along with it, there is also scenes revolving around teens knowing what they want against their family's wishes-- I'm not entirely sure I agree with how this last one was done, but it was very realistic.

Some of it didn't seem so realistic though and their impromptu road trip was a thing of fantasy.
Yet, this is YA and allowed these moments or ridiculous -- we read to escape, to see someone thrive and grow well.

This is an easy and sweet read -- one I'll recommend to someone looking for a quick read or lighthearted for summer.

I had high expectations because this was my last book to complete Kristina Forest's current back list and it did not disappoint. I can definitely say she is my current favorite author.
