It was OK but not that great I guess. There are definitely better fantasy parodies than this.

I tried. But I found this book pretty boring all the way through. I was at least hoping for a grand ending to make me change my mind, but the end was just as dull as the rest. The concept itself was pretty interesting, but I just didn't like the execution. There were way too many characters thrown around, none of whom I liked. The strongest emotion I felt for any of them was probably mild annoyance. Which meant that when things like
Spoiler Kit "dying" and Blade being kidnapped
happened, I just didn't care. This vaguely reminded me of [b:Magic Kingdom For Sale/Sold|15547|Magic Kingdom For Sale/Sold (Magic Kingdom of Landover, #1)|Terry Brooks|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1166673242s/15547.jpg|287715] by Terry Brooks in the fact that someone from our world enters a fantasy world that isn't quite what it's advertised as.

A fun book! Not exactly what I was expecting, but I enjoyed it, especially the many funny and touching sibling and parent moments. A family can be two human wizard parents, two human children, and five griffin children. :)

The ending was good, and thank goodness Kit survived, because I was getting teary for awhile. Scales being the king of the dragons was a twist, and I really enjoyed the mass protest and revolution that they organized (unknown to Derk and his children, frantically trying to keep everything on track).

Sweet story

A whimsical story about a family in a magical realm who try to cope with being in charge of their father being dubbed the Dark Lord for a year of tours from the nonmagical world, as a ruthless tycoon from that world uses a demon he captured to control them all and make them do his bidding. I really liked the main characters and the story.

This is a surprisingly dark book. It's quite fun, also, but dark.

I just couldn't get into it. I wanted to like it because I loved Howl's Moving Castle, but I was just bored.
