I’m not gonna lie I almost dnf’d it and I actually decided too and then changed my mind and tried again. I originally dnf’d at around 30% because there was nothing really drawing me in and captivating me. I am glad I picked it back up though as the story began to pick up shortly after. It was a good book and I am looking forward to the next I hope it is better than this one or I really might dnf the series lol.

I think this could be more like a 4 star? Very unsure.
It was quite slow to be honest, I considered DNFing at like 80%, but then the last 20% made me ready to dive into book 2.
Might come back and add that 4th star...tbd

He spares her life and takes her to the Crimson Court - the heart of the Fae Isles. At first, he sees the opportunity to use her in his game, however, something else is in their future. This enemies-to-lovers romance is captivating to say the least. I loved the communication between the two - or lack there of! And the story line is off the charts. This is a well-written story with plenty of spice!!!

Appreciate the inclusiveness of this book. The series picks up pace in Book 2.

Something about a misunderstood and "damaged" MMC just gets to me. Add in the fact that he's mute and communicates through hand language and written messages, and I'm weak in the knees. I will definitely be continuing the series simply because I need more of Creon. Him and Em are just too darn cute.

I will say, though, that reading the prequel, Heart of Silk and Shadows, definitely helped with the world-building and connecting with the characters. I don’t know if I would have loved this as much as I did if I had read this book first.
