I’m not gonna lie I almost dnf’d it and I actually decided too and then changed my mind and tried again. I originally dnf’d at around 30% because there was nothing really drawing me in and captivating me. I am glad I picked it back up though as the story began to pick up shortly after. It was a good book and I am looking forward to the next I hope it is better than this one or I really might dnf the series lol.

I think this could be more like a 4 star? Very unsure.
It was quite slow to be honest, I considered DNFing at like 80%, but then the last 20% made me ready to dive into book 2.
Might come back and add that 4th star...tbd

Court of Blood and Bindings takes place is a world of forbidden magic, treacherous courts and has a broody, morally grey hero! In this captivating Romantasy, Emelin, who holds her own forbidden magic, is captured by the empire's deadliest fae assasin, know as the Silent Death. He spares her life and takes her to the Crimson Court - the heart of the Fae Isles. At first, he sees the opportunity to use her in his game, however, something else is in their future. This enemies-to-lovers romance is captivating to say the least. I loved the communication between the two - or lack there of! And the story line is off the charts. This is a well-written story with plenty of spice!!!

Appreciate the inclusiveness of this book. The series picks up pace in Book 2.

Something about a misunderstood and "damaged" MMC just gets to me. Add in the fact that he's mute and communicates through hand language and written messages, and I'm weak in the knees. I will definitely be continuing the series simply because I need more of Creon. Him and Em are just too darn cute.

I will say, though, that reading the prequel, Heart of Silk and Shadows, definitely helped with the world-building and connecting with the characters. I don’t know if I would have loved this as much as I did if I had read this book first.
