I really liked this first book. We follow multiple points of view, so in the beginning there are parts where we don't know who is the character that is the point of the view.
There were two things that frustated me. The first one was keeping from us what the Erica and Patrik discovered, one example of this was when Erica redialled a number to discover who the last call was made to. And she is surprised to who the voicemail belongs to, but we don't learn who it is until later in the book.
The second thing, was the "romance", which I didn't feel like was a romance at all. Erica and Patrik have two dinners and didn't talk for very long and then they have a lot of sex (not explicit) and then suddenly, it is like they feel like they were made to be and they feel perfect for each other. I though it was very rushed and forced, like she wanted to settle then as a couple in the first book.

I finished this book awhile ago...and had so much going on that I did not bother to write down what I was thinking. Now I just remember it as an ok mystery...not remarkable, not anything I would run out to get the next in the series, but also not too painful.

I grabbed it because I love Scandinavian writers....but eh. Not my favorite....the story was fine.

A woman manages to find her childhood friend murdered in her house and tries to figure out what happened. She collaborates with a detective....falls in love and continues the search.

Predictable, but entertaining.

I love Camilla Lacknerg's writing and enjoyed the characters and the plot. I loved the main characters! I felt like the conclusion could have been better, the chapters didn't need to be sooooo long and there could have been more suspense, I'm holding out hope for the next book.

What I don't understand is the very last paragraph in this book, can anyone tell me? Is it relevant? It seems really pointless, am I missing something?

I liked this and might read the next in the series, but i thought the translation wasn't great. a lot of words weren't quite what they meant - it was close... maybe they should hire me as a consultant. :)

I literally only finished this book because google wouldn't tell me who the murderer was (it's
Vera Nilsson
, if you're in the same boat).

The fatphobia, the highly inconsistent character development, the nonsensical red herrings, the characters not figuring out things that are so heavily foreshadowed that you feel like they're an idiot for not figuring this out, it's just not good and I'm unlikely to read anything else by this author

probably more like 3.5 stars. the problem was that it felt like you could see the twists coming a pages before the characters did. I found myself wondering whether the characters ever read mysteries or watch tv. they were just so slow. nonetheless I liked the main players fairly well and enjoyed seeing the plot come together.
