A lovely fake engagement story that helps the two main characters more clearly see where there is both change and hope in their lives to become the best, happiest versions of themselves.

If I wanted to see people uselessly dancing around each other I would have gone back to my fucking dance class

Okay so!!!! This book!!! Was something!! Its different from what I usually read so perhaps its just not my cup of tea??

I think that the two main characters def have chemistry but the fact that the entire story was “idk if they love me” while they were making out and sleeping together every two seconds was!!! Something!!!

Again as a romance it’s acceptable- I def think the two characters are fit for each other but as a story its,,, very bland? I feel like instead of wasting our time on a “will they won’t they” that we know will obviously lead to the two main characters getting together, other points in the story could be explored? For example:
-
Karthik’s home life- we get an explanation of what happened and how it affected him, but I wish it was more SHOWN to us, than TOLD to us
- Adding onto the previous point, I really wish we saw more of Karthik’s mother; we know Karthik saw her as more fragile than she was but I feel like her story could have been more explored, its just something that, again, is TOLD to us
- I think we should have seen the leads outside of their relationship- I wanted to see more of Meghna’s relationship with her best friend and brother, how close they were, but most of the book is during their fight

Again maybe this is just how romance books are and its not my cup of tea, but I wish less time was spent on them being intimate and then immediately going “we can’t be together” for 300 pages and more so how outside forces have affected their views on relationships (and SEEING it instead of being TOLD it)- I feel like that could have helped their relationship more

What an amazing debut novel! I devoured this book in an entire day! I kept hearing such great things and it was all well deserved.

This was an arranged marriage with a different twist because of the fake engagement. The couples were long distance, but they were based in the states and not in India. It was great to see how the author including so much of their cultures however, still included parts of their current lives. These MC's made each other better, stronger and the growth each character made was what I love to see.

It was such a beautiful story about love, family, and breaking generational trauma. I look forward to more from this author.

Thank you to Net Galley for an early copy of this book on exchange for an honest review as always, all words are my own.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book. I was feeling giddy and kicking my feet during a lot of it, but I don't think I really cared for anything else surrounding the fake dating plot. I feel the friends sideline story was good, but even though it was resolved, I feel like it was such a big thing to let happen in the background. I didn't feel like the intern was necessary other than to give Karthik someone to talk to who wasn't his mom. I wish the author leaned more into his loneliness. The issues with his dad were interesting but unresolved though I believe it's fine to cut off someone like that in your life with no ceremony. But the overall romance was great in the typical lack of communication way. I found our main character's paired really well together. I like that they were fine with tradition but not traditional. I would read more from this author.

This was such a cute read!

I really loved listening to this audiobook, and I highly recommend it.

Meghna & Karthik are adorable. Watching Meghna blossom under Karthik's support was wonderful! Seth sucks!!! And watching Karthik melt from a frosty I will never love or get married to the warm and kind man that Meghna falls in love with was heartwarming.
