This book took me forever to finish because half of the time I didn’t understand what was happening and it was just pissing me off while reading it. I chose this book as my October book of the month because I had read her first novel like 5 years ago and I remember enjoying it but maybe I was young and naive and just didn’t know what good writing and story telling was. And I really hate to be so negative about a book because obviously hard work went into writing this novel so I will say some of the historical anecdotes that were included were well done but honestly altogether the book made no sense. There were parts where she was relating what was happening in the book to present day events and it just felt too on the nose and I didn’t like that at all. The plot itself was just all over the place and when I think I had it figured out it did a 180 and I was back at square one again. I would not recommend this book at all, my new hot take is that if I book takes you longer than a week to finish it probably isn’t good!

I don’t understand this one. The idea seemed cool, but the connection just wasn’t there. It was hard to follow the writing, nothing felt resolved, and I’m still left with a ton of questions. Some parts were interesting, but then everything started jumping around. It was like pulling teeth trying to finish this.

A great idea stopped short. I was really intrigued by this pseudo time travel. It's not really addressed, though, until the last 30 pages, and it was rushed. Villain makes a speech, revealing how and who Lou is, and then it's over.
