Book four of the series is darker still and a fun and enjoyable read - Things get more intense for our apprentice and now he has to try to stop three covens of witches from joining powers to raise a demon from his prison -

I would say that the only thing that I found strange was that the character seems older than his age - at 14, he is a strong hero, but acts like he is closer to 18 - not a huge deal, because as we grow up physically, we grow up mentally as well - So, Tom is mentally older than his body I guess

Tom Ward faces a great challenge - I will also say that this is the first book that ends with many things left unfinished - now it is becoming a series of, 'but, you must read the next book' - not a horrible thing, because these are fun reads, but don't require someone to continue to learn what happens next - leave a tease -

Anyway, this is an enjoyable read, and the series is still going along quite well.

This is my favorite book in the series, so far! The story is wonderfully rich, and goes more into the background of Tom and his family, as well as the Spook. The villains are plentiful, the creep factor is high, and story is strong.

I would definitely recommend this book to any looking for an easy, creepy, deep fantasy story. It's intended for younger audiences, but the creep factor is strong so I wouldn't recommend for very young children. I would definitely say that it's best to start at the beginning, but this book is good on its own merits.

So I think it's because I'm reading them through ebooks but this series is getting harder for me to finish and I can't figure out why, hm...

Easily the best book in the series so far. We finally get a better look into multiple characters histories and motivations, the main story is really put into play, and the main character begins to see that the world is colored in shades of gray which is a tough topic for a kid's series. Great book.
