I LOVE the pun in the title. Love it! I'm a sucker for trashy/cheesy puns.

As for the book itself... I didn't love it. I felt like the heroine forgave her ex way too quickly, even though his actions suck.

I didn't like Andre, and I felt uneasy reading the intimate scenes - they came out of nowhere every time and I was weirded out.

Other than that, the book was pretty cool. I liked the female lead and her friends, and the side stories were fun.

This was truly awful. So many things to dislike, so little to like. First of all, the heroine (Trixie) has a group of friends that call themselves the Boss Babes. Seriously? Does anyone ever name their own friend group, and if so, why would anyone choose that name? At the start of the book Andre and Trixie are exes. Not only that, but their relationship ended because Andre dumped her on a post-it and then proceeded by moving away and ghosting her. And he didn’t ghost her after a few dates (which still would be asshole-behavior) but after 2 years together! She’d even moved in with him at this point! But he had payed 3 months rent, so I guess that was supposed to make up for it? I honestly thought this was an interesting set-up - how on earth would the author redeem him? How would she explain his behavior and make it forgivable? How would Andre be able to assuage Trixie’s fears of being dumped again and make her trust him again, when he treated her so badly before? How will he show that he’s a changed man? Answer: Nope. Did not happen. Andre’s behavior was inexcusable, no explanation convinced me otherwise. Trixie’s fears and trust issues are apparently fixed by sex. She didn’t seem overly concerned about details such as trust or lack thereof. Better to focus on the important parts of a man, such as his dick. Andre does not change, he’s still a selfish asshole until the very end, when he suddenly storms in to a hospital room where Trixie’s dad is recovering from a serious heart attack, only to scream that he needs to talk to Trixie. Like, who cares that there’s a patient who needs calm and rest in there, I want to talk to my girl NOW! Who cares that if she had half a brain (which, unfortunately, she does not) she wouldn’t want to talk to him but instead would want to spend time with her dad..me, me, me… He also gets mad at her when she wants to lease a space for her new business, because he believes the space in question and others like it is ruining the neighborhood. He thinks it perfectly reasonable that she should just give up her dream, or postpone it, because of his feelings. Such a baby. And she essentially accepts it all and BLAMES HERSELF for his immature shit. Like, he’s upset with her because she sprang it on him. It was her fault. Just like it’s her fault for staying away from her parents since they kicked her out, cut her off, and told her not to come home again, only because she wanted to change her career and become a therapist. That seems to be the lesson Trixie learns in this book, as it is repeated often at the end: it’s her fault. Even though it really, truly isn’t! I’m usually quite forgiving of red flags regarding the hero’s behavior in romance novels. They are often controlling and stubborn and behave in ways I would never want in real life, but somehow it feels acceptable in the context of the novel - mainly because it is clearly a work of fiction and not reality. This was not one of those novels. Even though I knew they would end up together - kind of a genre requirement - I still kept hoping Trixie would realize she was way better of without Andre. No such luck, of course, but I can always pretend that she sees her mistake and dumps him after the writer stopped writing.

I have a bad habit of requesting books that look or sound interesting from #NetGalley and then diving in without reminding myself what the book is about. You’d think the title would have given me the hint I needed, but nope. I was completely naïve going into this one.

Guys, this book is literally about happy endings — and not necessarily in the romantic, happily-ever-after kind of way. Not that there isn’t potentially that too (I won’t tell you those details!), but it’s more so in the way of sex. From sex toys to masturbation to VERY detailed sex scenes, this book is

No tea no shade but this could work for someone who is (not ironically) into girl boss culture.  Was hoping for more spice, and less MLM vibes.  Some heartfelt moments and the conflict felt rooted in reality compared to other romance that usually is based off a wild misunderstanding, which can get old.

Thank you so much William Morrow & Avon Books for sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

Overall, this was very enjoyable. I really liked how this book talked about following your dreams and how you should support someone to do so. How, you can still be together and follow your dreams at the same time. Relationships don't come in between that, at least they shouldn't.

I feel like both Trixie and Andre learned a lot about not only each other but themselves. They've grown a lot, which I always appreciate. There was also a lot of talk about family and how much it matters, which is great. Of course, the sexual tension I am always here for. I just really enjoyed this!

A romance book full of sexy times, sex positivity, interracial romance with both MC being POC, the meaning of family and community, as well as lots of sexy times and intimacy. Loved loved loved it. A perfect second chance romance book.
