Unexpected deaths at San Francisco Municipal Hospital - unrelated tragic mistakes or something more sinister?

Meanwhile Lieutenant Lindsay Boxer isn't enjoying her new responsibilities; she's torn between managing her squad and her desire to be out on the streets investigating.

These tales aren't great literature and don't purport to be; the plotting can be dodgy but they are fast-paced enough to get away with it. I like the characters and enjoy the San Francisco setting.

I was really excited to see this chapter in the Women's Murder Club being focused around healthcare (my profession). Although a sort of twisted side of healthcare. ;) It was a good story with a bit of a twist, in true James Patterson style. I really like 4th of July so the 5th book of the series had some big shoes to fill, which is why it's only getting 4 stars. I am excited to read the next book & see what happens to Lindsay Boxer!

SPEED DATING

First Thought When Finished: Seriously, this series has a bad case of the "to many cases" ADD!

First Date: I love the gals of the Women Murders Club so it was great to see them again. I like that they are drawing the lawyer closer and really embracing their roles. I love their dinners!

Second Date: How many cases do you need in a book? This has got to be one of the most annoying things about this series. There is just too much going on and something always has to give.

Third Date: Another quick wrap up *Sigh* I am hoping the next book just focuses on one case instead of two. I don't think it will but a girl can hope.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Carolyn McCormack/Running Time 8 hrs and 5 mins

Carolyn did a fine job but the music additions kill me every time. This is the last one I have on audio so I will probably be switching to print after this one.

Final Thoughts: I love the characters but the series is not wowing me like it did in the beginning.

These make me want to go back and read James Patterson's other novels.

Out of all the books I managed to get through of this series, I must say that this is the one that gave me the most chills, the only one I couldn't put down without itching to pick it back up after a minute.

Best of the bunch, in my opinion.

As the 5th book in the series, I like the characters. Although there are some elements that are getting stale (aka, old). The premise of the story is excellent and the reader is drawn into the mystery. I found myself trying to figure out 'who done it'. However, this book seemed to have a number of ideas for a story that lacked connection and creative thought. This is the problem with serial stories. The authors seem to toss a bunch of stuff together and call it a book. Repeating storylines from previous books or repeating dialogue within the same book just seems to be an effort to fill the pages.

As an example of lack of thought process, the parents of a 5 year old boy are forced to leave the hospital because visiting hours were over… despite his plea not to be left alone. It's been a long time since my boys were little. But in 1992, I spent the night in my son's hospital room. This is a book that was written in 2008. Not likely, a boy would be expected to stay without a parent. I share this detail because it does not give away the content of the mystery. It just serves as an example of lack of effort to make a great book vs. fill pages.

Alright, I am done complaining. I will read the next book in the series. If there is more of the same, I don't see me getting to the latest book numbered 21. Keeping my fingers crossed.
