Cloonan's By Chance or Providence presents three separate dark fantasy tales, each separate from the others but clearly feeling as though they can exist within a single world. The writing and art work well together for each of the stories--drawing from myth and fantasy in ways that are intriguing, unsettling, and resonant even as they embrace an element of the unknown and the uncertain.

Not what I was expecting, it had really pretty art though.

The art was really nice and the way that the stories were told really give them a 'legendary myth' vibe. But I felt like the stories never really went anywhere, and I don't feel like I really took anything away from this book. Or I might just not be smart enough to appreciate it -- I just wanted more.
Also... why did we have to see the breasts of every female in these stories? It was not necessary at all.
