Wow! I have not read the Renthia books before this but I may have to! This was a wonderful story that really had you rooting for the characters and just being able to visualize the lands and sea. I loved the story and felt drawn to keep reading to follow these characters!

I was SO happy when I heard I could come visit the islands of Belene. After reading the Renthia series and being quite sad when it was over, all I wanted was more! The islands of Belene are beautifully described. I hope we hear more about them!

I loved this book. It was a prefect mix of fantasy and romance and it kept me on my toes the entire time. I also wish that we got more from this world because I loved it. I loved the lore, loved the story and I loved the main characters. I also loved that the romance was established and that it wasn't one of those forced short ones where characters have no chemistry and it's just thrown on just because. The romance actually fuels the story this time around and I loved it.

The opening of this book is so stunningly beautiful. The characters tug on my heartstrings like nothing else. The world building is so interesting and compelling. Unfortunately I think it went downhill the further it got from that opening. The island is somewhat interesting, but the political aspect and that realm felt like it detracted from the main point until it just became a new, less intriguing center. I think if I hadn't already fallen for other beautiful elements then this plot would've been solid in a different book. I just didn't care because I wanted something different and the author started out giving me that. In the end the reunion that should've been the peak of the book was overshadowed by the minutiae of less compelling plot points
