"One has to be careful what one takes when one goes away forever."
-Leonora Carrington, The Hearing Trumpet

I saw the twist coming probably because I was over prepared for the scale of mindfuck this author has set before in[b:I'm Thinking of Ending Things|40605223|I'm Thinking of Ending Things|Iain Reid|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1625603942l/40605223._SY75_.jpg|47328175] but doing so didn't really ruin anything much, the clever writing, punctuation, the discussion of long term relationships and what it means/takes to maintain them and overall the suspenseful flow of the plot were really enjoyable.

the ending was satisfying in ways I didn't know I could feel. Haha!

I'll surely be enjoying the movie a tad bit more and for completely non objective reasons :3

Wow, a complex, thought provoking book. It left me processing for sure. I totally called the twist on page thirty but I was still ready to see how it unwound.

Maybe I'll have more to say later, but my initial thoughts are mostly about how I wish the book was more about exploring what was actually going on here and less about making it confusing and twisty? I don't know. I get what happened and I followed the plot just fine, it just also felt so stretched out for what it was without much substance - which, yeah, can happen when I feel like the whole point was to lead to a plot twist the POV character didn't know about (and I kind of guessed right away). I loved the ideas but it didn't really do much for me.
