This one is so much darker and sadder than the first.  The things Sybella has dealt with her whole life and the journey she is on is a hard one.

(Sexual abuse is talked about)
(Suicidal thoughts)

Beast is my favorite man.  In my mind he isn’t ugly at all because his heart and personality is just the best but the author has stated multiple times that he is ugly ugly lol
Good thing Sybella prefers toads to princes 😍😩

I just really love this series. This pacing is alot faster. A lot more action. And a lot more drama!

I must have faith, but having faith is hard, so very much harder than despair.

Stayed up at night twice in a row, teared up a few times. 10/10

I liked this one, but not as much as the first one. My opinions might change on a reread because I went through like a 10-day slump while reading this, so that may have affected my enjoyment.

It’s as if the author knew that I found the romance to be lacking in the first book. That’s why she gave us the incredible pairing of Sybella and Beast. I loved these two characters separately in the first book, and I loved them even more together in this one. I like how the story continues through each character, showing different perspectives while allowing us to learn more about the world of Mortain’s daughters and the Saints that dwell in Brittany. Overall, this is one of those sequels that surpassed its predecessor while still building on the world it created.
