This is a massive hardcover-phonebook-sized tome of nostalgia for old-school tabletop rpg players.

Collecting all of the Grimtooth's Traps series of game supplements, with loads of bonus material, this volume's primary focus is on nasty, ridiculous, and humiliating traps that will make the lives of the typical rpg character (or "delver" as Grimtooth calls them) miserable.

I owned several of these books in their original forms. While the traps are geared more for an old-school dungeon crawl game style rather than the story-oriented games I tend to run, I always enjoyed the creativity and irreverent wit of this series.

There is a lot of fun here, even if you seldom actually use the material in-game.

The collection is beautifully put together, and I particularly enjoyed the insights into the early days of the roleplaying game industry that the introductory interviews delivered.

This is aimed at a somewhat limited audience, obviously, but for me it was a huge (and I do mean HUGE) package of nerdy fun.

Picked it up for purely nostalgic reasons. It does not hold up, sadly.
