This might be my favorite Mike Bowditch story so far! Another crazy situation he's gotten himself, of course. The switch from flash backs to the current time weaved the story together in an interesting fashion.

Maybe the best book of the series.
While investigating an old accident, Mike is forced over a bridge and is hunted down by his assailants. Battling hypothermia he has to fight to survive those that are hunting him and the elements.

Ugh! If you like those take a beating and keep on ticking type of books this one is for you. Not my kind of book at all. My hubby chose this for our road trip and that is the reason I read it. Although, in all fairness to the author my husband enjoyed it.

Quote is not exact but close enough.

Happy #pubday to this thriller! After living through this insane PNW heatwave, all I wanted was to pretend like I was freezing somewhere in remote Maine, so this was a perfect read!

Set over the course of 24 hours, Mike Bowditch, a game warden in Maine, sets out to investigate a four year old death that was considered closed. Each person he speaks with gets him deeper into the mystery and he can’t seem to stop searching. In an alternating timeline, you’re seeing the end of the day and what happened to Mike in the course of his interviews.

It’s a cozy thriller that will keep you on your toes! It is technically book 12 in the Mike Bowditch series, but it acts as a standalone. Like many other books, the story would likely be richer if you had read the previous books but I didn’t feel like I needed to

Needs some proofreading, but a good read other than that!
