No very big surprises imo. I hadn’t thought of Warren as an accomplice, but wasn’t very surprised either, it just didn’t do much for me. Though I understand Evan having power over Warren, I don’t get the setup of this crime. It also doesn’t fit Evan’s MO. He’s a molester, not a kidnapper. How and why Kayla was involved didn’t become clear either.Someone (Victor) or a scene made intentionally creepy to set us on the wrong foot is completely fine with me, I actually like that, WHEN followed by a twist/surprise. Which wasn’t the case in this book. I’m always looking for the character mentioned in the beginning and then never again so we’d forget about them, who ends up being the culprit.
So yeah, I found the book a page turner but the end didn’t satisfy me.. Because it was a real page turner, I’m still giving it 3.5 stars but definitely not as enjoyable as Triptych, though as I said in that review, I didn’t find that ending very surprising either, all the surprises were in the first half of the book…
