Meh. DNF. Not terribly interesting or well-written. I don't want to come across as jaded, but I have known drag queens, murderers and murder victims, not to mention more than enough manipulative people for me to find any of this scandalous or titillating.

FUCKING phenomenal. i cannot say enough good things about this goddamn book and how thoroughly it has enchanted me. go into it knowing as little as possible about what it covers and you'll be completely swept off of your feet.

a genuinely enjoyable read with a satisfying twist - the last third is just “meh” but it ends in a nice way. i’d imagine it’s like a visit to savannah itself ;)

This was a unique book; although it is nonfiction, it reads more like prose. The city of Savannah is itself the most important character, and almost seems to have a life of its own, it’s own agency. A variable cast of characters, good writing, and a murder trial: I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. I liked this book, but something about the pacing was just off for me. For this reason, it took me longer to finish this than it should. But still a good story
