He is my favorite author. His words flow like water to my ears. I loved the story and sometimes felt like I was there (or wished I were).

Picking this up again after a month or so; I had to return it to the library. I really want to get through my first Dickens book.

Drei Monate. Und ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob es das wirklich wert war.

There were some characters in this book I absolutely hated. For quite awhile, Pip was one of them. Then, around page 300 or so, it was as if he suddenly grew up. After that, the action got easier to follow as well as understand and I was genuinely invested in the story.

I'm sure there are a million reviews of this already.

So worth a read though, if you love language and good humor.

I might be in the minority on this, but I prefer the revised ending to the original. The romanticized encounter in the ruins might be a little sentimental, but it's much more satisfying than the mundane dryness of the brief meeting in the street.

Also, this is a fucking magnificent novel.

The first 3/4 of this book was hard for me to get through. It all felt very wordy and had more details than I had thought necessary.

As I neared the end, I realized that everything included was important and had a beautiful ending.

I definitely recommend the audio version as it helped me get through this.
