I absolutely devoured this book and it was delicious. It wasn’t perfect but it was close. I adore Jude. Holly Black makes quick work of painting Elfhame, it only took me a few chapters before I was settled in. I could see this series not being YA, it’s almost surprising that it is. Will be reading the next soon, hoping its on par (or even better) than this one.

This review is coming from a person who previously didn’t care for fantasy!

This book & series blew me away. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope & sadly usually falls flat, this series lived up to every expectation and truly built the relationship & feelings in ways that solidified everything. The story & world building were FLAWLESS.

The cruel prince was my second favorite of the series for good reason. The twists and turns aren’t predictable & aren’t outlandish, they’re brilliant.
