This book is so interesting and follows well with the first in its series, Borne. I felt horrible for this poor woman and the things that happened to her. There were some moments in this book that had my skin crawling and weighed on my heart heavily.
I also loved how this book really added to the world of Borne and this Dystopian society that is happening.
Jeff VanderMeer has such a neat way of telling his stories and twisting complex fantasy with that of science fiction. At this point, I've read several of his works and this was short, but highly effective in twisting my thoughts like his previous novels.

This is such a beautiful story of loss and hope and love told in such a brutal and unforgiving landscape, from the perspective of lab experiment bird. It feels old and new at the same time
