Good for anybody considering whether to medically transition. This book blew my mind and changed how I thought about being trans - it also provides the best brief history of birth control I've ever read. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because it's VERY dense. I would read this again, and again, and I think I'd find something fresh every time.

Half of this is just porn. Entirely too self-indulgent. Aiming for a liberatory politics where there really is none

the first thing I’ll say is this book was too long for me. Préciado was fairly repetitive or went on not fully flushed out tangents often. but where the book is good it is very impactful. I also haven’t read enough theory for this book… doesn’t require prerequisites but is definitely not for the more casual theory reader. the structure of the book really worked for me (including the memoir pieces). a lot of transformative and powerful ideas in here that are going to simmer with me, but the reading experience itself was… a lot.
