As with any author that I like I always try to keep a book ahead always leaving a book in the wings from that series. This has been a good series for me in that way, but recently I have learned that Ms. Harrison is ending this series. I am saddened by this. These are books I really enjoy. The trials and tribulations of Rachel Morgan have kept me well entertained. Unlike some authors Ms. Harrison's books about The Hollows are attractive to men and women.

If you have never read a book from The Hollows allow me to introduce you to the players or least some of them. Number one and the main protagonist is Rachel Morgan, she is an earth witch. Her roommate and best friend a living vampire named Ivy, and their partner a pixie named Jenks. Rachel is rather inept but somehow she always lands on her feet, Ivy is a very insecure yet adept living vampire. Jenks is my favorite, he says things that the rest of us only wish we could.

In this installation of this series someone is killing the werewolf population and the authorities think that it might be Rachel's alpha, and Rachel knows it isn't. She is pretty sure though that the ancient artifact that she has is probably the reason. Yes, Rachel is part of a "were" pack. Long story but well worth the read to find out about it.

Rachel sets out to get to the bottom of the killings, work for her arch nemesis Trent as security at his wedding, deal with a demon or two, try to keep David her alpha out of jail, keep out of jail herself, find a blood balance with Ivy, deal with the main packs in Cincy, and on and on. Tons of fun and intrigue.

As is my habit I will not use spoilers although I really want to. This book hit me hard. My husband is a book ahead of me in the series and it kills me. Will I read more? Oh yes, as long as Ms. Harrison writes about The Hollows I am her faithful follower. Of course I will read other series too. The main question is should you read this book? Only if you like a book that will make you laugh, bite your nails and cry. This book is the complete package. Read it!!

My emotions!!!

Completely forgot how this book went down --probably forced myself to forget, but I understand why things happened the way they did.

Every time Trent starts to seem like a good guy.... tsk, tsk, tsk.

Ok I'm really tired of Rachel pulling her "oooh I like what this does, but oh the blemish whoa-is-me but" get over it already jeez. I'm not sure if i'm liking, no actually i'm not liking the whole Rachel and Ivy possibly being lovers bit. Thats a sexual tension bit I would like to stay the way it is, it keeps their relationship entertaining.

Frickin awesome sex scene between Rache & Kisten oh my damn. and Jenks drunk is just too funny. But I'm extremely sad Kisten is gone he was my favorite character besides Jenks. I'm completely crushed! Why do these cool characters away, it's completely harsh. However, even though Kisten is dead this is so far my favorite book of the series.

I thought this book was an improvement on it's predecessor, A fistful of Charms. I was glad to see Trent and Kisten in this book and seeing them have a storyline. Everything with David and the focus was interesting and there seemed to always be something happening. There is a big shock at the end that I didn't expect and I'm still not sure if I believe, but overall I did like this one.
