I skipped over the first book in this series as it wasn't available. Typically in a series you get enough background information that you don't have to necessarily have read all the books that come before. I found with this book, it was indeed the case that I was given enough information to know what had taken place in the first book without having read it.

Fractured fairy tales appeal to many children and I think there are some important additions to this version, particularly that of female empowerment (Cinderella learning to be self reliant). It's a sweet book that will appeal to quite a few ages in our K-6 school library.

"If the Shoe Fits" by Sarah Mlynowski is a modern retelling of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella. The story follows Cindy, a plus-sized shoe designer who gets the chance of a lifetime to work for a top fashion designer. Despite some bumps in the road, including dealing with a cruel stepmother and stepsisters, Cindy finds love and learns to embrace her true self.

The book is a fun and lighthearted read, with a strong emphasis on body positivity and self-acceptance. The character of Cindy is relatable and charming, and readers will find themselves rooting for her throughout the story. The modern twists on the classic tale, such as Cindy's profession as a shoe designer and her social media presence, add a fresh and contemporary feel to the story.

Mlynowski's writing style is engaging and witty, and she does an excellent job of balancing the romance and comedy elements of the story. The secondary characters, including Cindy's love interest, friends, and family, are well-developed and add depth to the story.

Overall, "If the Shoe Fits" is an enjoyable and heartwarming retelling of Cinderella that will leave readers feeling uplifted and inspired. It is a perfect read for anyone looking for a feel-good, romantic comedy with a message of self-love and acceptance.

This was very good! So much going on, so much adventure. Bad things do happen, but they always fix it. I liked how Cinderella wasn’t the regular one that gets the prince charming, but she was something else she wanted to be. I like how the author does that twist with it.

Cute, quick read. It's nice to see the traditional princesses get updated stories where they break the mold.

Second book of a series (each book stands alone) that I'm reading with my 7-year-old; she continues to like these books and the imaginative storytelling - dropping into a fairy tale and accidentally changing the story - and allows for good discussion on understanding that a person's "story" or life can change due to little things. The books also change the fairy tale in a way that empowers the "princesses" - in this one Cinderella's story is flipped a bit to have her seek more self-reliance than simply "waiting to be rescued." My daughter liked it and is looking forward to the next one.

Cute retelling of Cinderella, I liked how it changed the ending a bit. And adds more decisions to Cinderella and the Stepsister
