“Go and come back to us!” My heart is very full. Thank you Shelby, for the rec. On this last day of work together, just wanted to say thank you for how you’ve changed my story and shape for the better by being able to work with you over the past year and a half 💕 trivia and Slice n Dice will just have to do from now on! 😭

2.75 The graphic novels’ biggest strength is the coloring. Each page was filled with muted pinks, green, brown, blues and purples. It was pretty in a calm and cozy way. The lore was interesting and unique. The concept of seeds growing into people and 2 people planting a seed to birth someone and become parents is a great story idea. I wished the ending to be slower as it felt rushed during its emotionally charged moments. Some of the fantasy elements also were not developed and thus confusing. Overall a nice, quick read!

Cute. Lesson at the end reminded me of Moana. Art style is so pretty.

*spoilers*
If I went on a magic mission to find evil mist (maybe? Things were unclear) and my partner adopted and raised a child without me instead of waiting for me to come back and talk about it together, I would be very mad! And then when I was like “Uh where did this child come from? You broke the law and got us banished while I was saving the world WTF?” She turned her and the child into trees, then stayed a tree while I raised the child without her? Then was mad the child was being raised by me? What was MC supposed to do, let the kid starve while you were off being a tree? Not cool.

A lovely fantasy story about participating in and hopefully improving a society, while trying to navigate its rules and restrictions. Ruminations on the origins and value of traditions and on love and relationships. Cool creature concepts and very beautiful art.

This story line was a very interesting concept, but I don't know if I necessarily enjoyed it as much as Jessi Zabarsky's other novel witchlight. Characters are a delight and I love the unique style of drawing.

Relieved that I am not alone in my complete lack of understand the plot here. It’s a lovely book, but I truly have no solid grasp of the lesson here.
