This is a really great graphic novel. I loved the art style of it. I loved that the women were the focus and we got to see their back stories and their struggles learning the language. The book had themes of family, found family, immigration, loneliness, and love. I also liked reading the authors note in the back about why some characters speech were written the way they were.

I cried so hard, cuz damn that hits too close home. I relate so much to every single characters here. Not knowing your parents language, feeling lost, looking for a home, not relating to people around you and once you found people who does its hard to let go. And growing up and finally learning your own culture that you thought you lost damn it hurts. This was so beautiful, i miss my friends at my boarding house too. It was hard being away from your own home but then you meet all these people that taught you stuff and then suddenly theyre your home too. Ugh im gonna cry bye

This was what I needed after a heavy reading. It has the perfect balance between emotional, funny and entertaining. The story is very relatable and the art is beautiful.

As someone who native language isn’t english but loves and appreciates it so much, I loved the author’ notes and thoughts about accents.

Just a beautiful story about identity, friendship, family, and finding home not in a place, but in the people that surround you.
