I just finished this book and I think the thing that most annoyed me was that the characters are old-well I know that the main character is a 77-year-old woman and her two friends are also kinda in a similar age group, but I have no idea how how old they really are because there were SO many things to remember.  it’s really my fault because it says that on the back  and  it‘a bit Ya crime/horror. I’ll try to avoid this in the future. I also have to say that I really didn’t like the main characters because they seemed unreasonable and the way they acted in some situations was really weird. I’m sorry but there’s no way a 65 old woman in a small town says “No shit Sherlock” like wth? Also like I said I truly have NO IDEA how old everyone is in this book which makes me a bit mad because I can’t understand the conversations and why they even happened.
also that fucking tree?? Why don’t you just CLIMB IT?? I mean yeah that’s hard but your friend is being shot so you just gotta do it!  That scene w her alone & Danny and everything was pretty cool tho
the actual ending was really well made tho!
The thing with Judith in the end wow (I knew it tho)
Btw my book’s completely ruined it’s falling apart by the spine and I just picked it up. What a cheap production!!!
Judith is actually pretty smart tho, i didn’t know a lot of the words in this book 😭🤩🤞🏼

4/4.5 stars. Really loved how the book embraced its own silliness at times. Although it can't be a 5 star with the weird back story to Judith, tho I get that they needed a reason for her to be a collector.

Thank you NetGalley, Libro.fm, and the publisher for an advanced review/listening copy of this book.

This was a very tame murder mystery and I never really felt much tension. I would have liked to see the police process a little more, which felt rushed. I did like that the 3 MCs were older and that they used that to their advantage!

The narrator was wonderful!

I mostly liked the main characters, and despite some little issues, it was a fun read.

The characters were cute and enjoyable, and I was glad I didn't guess the final whodunit. However, I guessed literally every other twist without even trying, often eons before they were revealed.

It was also a bit annoying that the characters took ages to realize simple things. I often felt like I was 3 steps ahead. And there were enough completely unrealistic things that happened for the sake of plot, that would never happen in real life, that I was disappointed. I can only suspend disbelief so much.

Those critiques aside, it was still enjoyable overall. I love The Thursday Murder Club gang, which is what drew me to this book. It's not as good as those books in my opinion, but it's perfect if you're in the mood for something similarly cozy.
